6 on Saturday - Edition 4

Each Saturday, I feature new, undiscovered and underdiscovered shops on Etsy that haven't hit the criteria for syndication yet, which will give them much needed visibility on Google shopping. I'm happy to share some of these great shops with you, and hopefully give them a little leg-up on their entrepreneurial journey!

Without further ado, here's today's 6 on Saturday for today, October 29, 2011. Enjoy - and be sure to show them some love!!!

First up is a lovely shop called HapaDesign, where you'll find an awesome collection of eco-friendly fashions created from hand-me-downs, scrap fabric, and second hand finds... reworked into some amazing one of a kind fashions that are perfect for work and play. Owner Hanna Paal makes her home in Tallinn, Estonia, and ships worldwide!  Open since August, she's still anticipating her first customer on Etsy. Will it be you?

Self proclaimed fiber fanatic Jeannie Gray introduced her shop, JeannieGrayKnits, in July and has made her first sale, but would love to see more! Combining southern charm with fiber art, Jeannie offers some lovely handknit fashion accessories as well as drink cozies and even some handknit holiday decor pieces. This is definitely a shop with something for everyone!  With the weather getting cooler, now's the perfect time to buy that new scarf or those new mittens, BEFORE you actually need them!

Since our furry friends can't exactly shop for themselves, we can't forget the wonderful shops that cater to their needs - like bwbarkery! Serving up farm fresh dog and cat treats made with certified organic ingredients and offering a great selection of eco-friendly toys and pet gear as well, this shop is on its way with 9 sales. Why not treat your family pet to something special from their collection today?

Purses are one of my favorite accessories, and when I came across RoxanneBrownHandbags, I knew I wanted to include this great shop here. This isn't just any purse shop... Roxanne not only constructs these beauties, she actually weaves the fabric she uses to build her designs on her own loom. And they are beautiful, in my humble opinion! Open since July, this shop has 2 sales, but I think there will be more forthcoming as shoppers discover this great little shop!

Marina Naydenova is the creative talent behind kroshetmania on Etsy, where you'll find a great selection of enchanting old world as well as more modern designs in the form of handmade doilies. Having grown up in a home where my grandmother's handmade doilies graced virtually every table, I can tell you that, in addition to providing protection for fine furnishings against scratches and nicks, there is nothing that provides a homey feel more nicely than a beautiful doily creation. This is one art form (and it truly is an art form) that I hope to see survive for a long time to come! Marina has had 9 sales to this point, but check out her shop for some truly unique Christmas gift ideas, and lets see that number rise!

I'm always in awe of people who can paint. While I dabble a bit myself and my sister is an accomplished artist in her own right, I always am finding new artists whose work completely amazes me. This last shop created that sense of awe for me. Watercolors are one of my favorite mediums and WatercolorsByAmyC is a new favorite shop for me! I wish I could nail down exactly why I like a certain artist's work, but I can never find the appropriate words when it comes to this art form - it just touches something in the creative center of my soul. Painting is an art form that has shown its endurance down through the centuries, and it's such an amazing way to add something unique to your living or office space. Amy not only offers ready to ship art, but is willing to accept commissioned work as well. What are you waiting for? I'm sure you have the perfect space for a piece of her work - and it would make an incredible gift for those newlyweds, or that entrepreneur opening the doors to his or her new business!

If you're just starting out or know of a shop that is and would enjoy a feature, introduce me to the shop and you may find it featured in one of my future 6 on Saturday features. Use the "Contact Me" option in the menu bar at the top of the page and send me the links!

As always, Best of Luck to all of these un- and underdiscovered shops!

xo,

Thank you so much for this honor! You've left me speechless & that does not happen often! Instead of following my Saturday agenda of bathroom scrubbing, I'm going to spend the rest of the day following links to you and the other underdiscovered's mentioned. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You have a lovely blog and a generous spirit! How wonderful to offer such a potential boost to we "undiscovered etsians". I'd love to be featured but right now, my shop is just not up to the standard of the ones you've done so far! My camera is my phone so my images are rather horrid!

Looking forward to more and browsing this lovely blog!

What a great idea! Beginning on Etsy is really difficult and takes a bit of patience (okay, a lot!). As I am new too, I know it's hard but it's all worth it if you love what you do.
By reading you, we know that you truly love what you do and that you truly have a generous spirit.

Going back to browsing your blog now!
Thanks for the wonderful discoveries!

Love your idea and the mix of shops you picked. I have visited and checked them out. Hope the extra exposure helps everyone, I know it is so hard to get exposure and drive traffic to your store. Good luck guys!

Great finds! There are so many wonderful shops on etsy, it's so hard to discover them all. What a great way to be introduced to some new shops. :) Best of luck to all of these talented shop owners!

Great mix, as always! I really enjoy this feature of your blog, and the variety of talent you showcase!

As a side note, the "contact me" option is currently (for me, anyway). Might want to look into it!

Thank you to everyone - I truly LOVE doing features like this and hope to continue doing them for a long, long time! There is just so much talent waiting to be found, and lots of great shops that provide the tools and supplies to feed our creative energy, as well as the great vintage shops that bring us treasures of the past! I'm happy to help in this small way to allow them a moment in the spotlight!

And Bludart, thanks for bringing that to my attention! It's fixed now!

Great idea, nicely done!

I'm doing a series too, mine is 'Gifts under £10' and I'm using Etsy shops and trying to choose shops with fewer sales because - as you say - it's nice to give the underdog a leg up.

I'm finding it hard to locate them though. It's taken me most of the day to sort through listings - what happened to Pounce? Or is there now another way to find new shops?
