We are Stardust, We are Golden...

Some of you may recognize those words from the song "Woodstock" written by Joni Mitchell and popularized by her then boyfriend Graham Nash's band - Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Perhaps it is the evidence that we truly are stardust, a product of the creation of everything in this universe, that makes the study of the stars -astronomy- a source of wonder for so many of us. 2009 is the United Nations International Year of Astronomy and since next week (Oct 19-25) is Fall Astronomy week, I thought it would be fun to look at some of the astronomy related items available on Etsy.


I love the crispness of this photo print of Saturn and I have to say that I agree with the owner of Strauski on Etsy - "These images of details of our universe are simply beautiful. Everyone should have one to remind us of how unimportant we are in the grand scheme of things."



And of course it's hard to do any really great stargazing without the help of a telescope, and while this Moving Omni Galactic Telescope...Retro Robot Wood Statue - from one of my favorite shops, buildersstudio -may not be the real thing, it is a great looking collectible for anyone who's interested in astronomy!






Last but not least, I love this Cosmic Glass Paperweight from justinbagley. I think it would make a wonderful gift for your favorite star-ry eyed astronomer!
