My "Other" Mother

Today is Mother-In-Law Day, so I'd like to share a little bit with you about my mother-in-law, Sandy. She is one of the sweetest mothers-in-law that a woman could ask for and I love her to pieces. Caught up in the stereotypes, I wasn't quite sure how I would be accepted by this feisty little Jewish lady when the Great WOO and I became engaged a few years ago -especially since I wouldn't have the opportunity to actually meet her until the day before the wedding! But I had absolutely nothing to worry about. She is beautiful and strong and warm and loving, and yes - a bit feisty... but then I've seen how much grief her sons can give her!! She's always ready with a shoulder when I want to kvetch, and I love that she ends all of our conversations with an "I love you, bubbee" . I am truly blessed to have this wonderful lady in my life!

Sandy has a few favorite themes when it comes to decorating. The home that she shares with her husband, my "other" dad, Len, is so tastefully decorated and definitely reflects her many loves. Today, I'm sharing one of those themes with you. When we went to visit them last year, the guest room that we stayed in was decorated in beautiful Delft and Wedgewood blues in a somewhat shabby chic theme, and it was simply lovely, so today I'll be sharing that theme with you!

This vintage Delft Blue Hand Painted In Holland Porcelain Windmill a lovely example of this crisp blue and white design. It is available at bonitaenterprises on Etsy.

I love cameos, and this BLUE AND WHITE CAMEO vintage inspired adjustable ring from outoftheblue is definitely a classic beauty (just like my mother-in-law!).

Finally, I picked out this Knit Chai Mugrug from blazingneedles. The hebrew symbol (chai) featured on this little coaster is Hebrew for "life" and as the old yiddish toast goes, I will leave you with a "L'chaim" (To Life!!). Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one!

I didn't know it was MIL's day! I'll have to call and wish a happy one to my own!

Beautiful picks, I especially love the windmill, so sweet. :)

It is so refreshing to hear when women have wonderful relationships with their MILs. Thanks so much for featuring my cameo ring in your sweet tribute to your mother in law!

I can't thank you enough for incorporating my windmill into your blog, it really made my day! I'm still fairly new to Etsy and this makes me feel even more part of an awesome community. I will call my MIL this weekend and remind her how awesome she is!!
