Sunday Afternoon Reflections - The One You Feed

Guardian of Mai-coh  by autumnlaneartistry
I chose this story to share with you as a reminder of how much our children and grandchildren need us to set a good example in all of our dealings along life's path. Their values and behavior are often a mirror of our own values and behavior and unfortunately, we don't always choose the high road - sending mixed messages, and leading to confusion about what truly is the "right" thing to do. Leave them with the legacy of a well fed good wolf.

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.'

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?'

The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.'

I love that, it's so simple really. I believe it isn't only our children and/or grandchildren that learn from how we choose to live our lives, but all those we come in contact with. Feed the spirit. :)
