Sunday Afternoon Reflections (Oops, Evening Edition) - Today I Will...

It's been quite the week between being sick and having more on my plate than usual... and I'll admit I'd been feeling a tad overwhelmed and exhausted throughout most of it. As I've noticed with most things in life though, something always happens to remind of how much everything is worth it. Today, my "something" came in the form of dinner with my husband and daughter-in-law and my two grandsons for the younger boy's first birthday. I was a little sad that my son had also succumbed to the bug that's been getting everyone down and was still feverish enough that he had decided to stay home, but we had wanted to do something special to celebrate Connor's special day. Grandchildren are SO healing to the soul and refreshing to the spirit... it was as if both of the boys knew exactly what Grandma and Grandpa needed today and simply gave it... and with their innocence and love, and the bonds of family, came renewal...

I thought this would be a good piece to share since it illustrates how much our attitude and choices affect outcomes...

Today I will delete from my diary two days: yesterday and tomorrow.

Yesterday was to learn and tomorrow will be the consequence of what I can do today.

Today I will face life with the conviction that this day will not ever return. Today is the last opportunity I have to live intensely, as no one can assure me that I will see tomorrow's sunrise.

Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity pass me by, my only alternative is to succeed.

Today I will invest my most valuable resource:my time, in the most transcendental work: my life; I will spend each minute passionately to make of today a different and unique day in my life.

Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on my way trusting I will succeed.

Today I will resist pessimism and will conquer the world with a smile, with the positive attitude of expecting always the best.

Today I will make of every ordinary task a sublime expression.

Today I will have my feet on the ground understanding reality and the stars' gaze to invent my future.

Today I will take the time to be happy and will leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others.

Today I invite you to begin a new season where we can dream that everything we undertake is possible and we fulfill it, with joy and dignity.

I'd like to add one thing to the list...

Today I will remember to be grateful for all of the things that I have to complain about - they mean I am alive and aware and capable of doing my part to deal with them positively.

What will you do today? Please share!

xo,
