Delightful Discoveries - Ketchup, umm... uhhh... Catch-Up, that is! 11.28.10

Needless to say, this past week has been a crazy one in so many ways, and I've been remiss in my blogging commitments as a result. I do have some categories of items to catch up on, so I'm going to show the very best of my choices in each one and bring things at least a little bit up to date!

Geekery
Are you a geek or a nerd? Don't know the difference? Then chances are good you don't really fit into either category! According to the Jargon File, nerd is a "pejorative applied to anyone with an above-average IQ and few gifts at small talk and ordinary social rituals," while a geek is "a person who has chosen concentration rather than conformity; one who pursues skill (especially technical skill) and imagination, not mainstream social acceptance." Whichever you are, and even if you're neither, I hope you'll enjoy these items that definitely fall into the geekery realm for their imagination and appeal to those outside the social mainstream!

Dark Khaki
Khaki is a color term borrowed from the Hindustani word khak which means dusty, or dust covered. Popular as a uniform color since the mid 1840's, this color has become a mainstay neutral for fashion and accessories as well as a beautiful color in home and office decor!

Let it Snow!
I'm ready... bring on the snow! Oh wait... it doesn't snow here in the Phoenix area - at least not that often! But honestly, sometimes it just doesn't feel as Christmasy without at least a dusting of the white stuff - so I tend to rely on living vicariously through my family and friends back east who do deal with the fluffy flakes. Or, I just take one of my snow globes off the shelf, shake it, and dream :) Maybe I should start thinking about adding more snowy themed goodness to my collection!

Food Gifts
What do you get for the person who has everything? Or the person who truly doesn't need or want clothes or knickknacks? Why, food, of course! As my mom has gotten older, she doesn't want to have to deal with a lot of "things" around the house, nor does she need much in the way of need-to-haves or want-to-haves. Likewise, for my family back east, we've kind of fallen into a pattern of buying each other yummy goodies that we just wouldn't typically indulge in at other times of the year. I know I LOVE getting this type of gift since there's so many unusual delicacies, mixes, and ready-mades that I probably would never buy myself!
