Delightful Discoveries - Gone Fishin' 09.28.10

I love to go fishing, although I haven't been in years! And yep, I can bait my own hooks with nightcrawlers, and don't mind taking the fish off the hook, but... don't ask me to eat anything I've caught! At least not if you're expecting me to gut and clean and fillet the critters! Yes, it turns out I'm a wimp when it comes to the "now that I've caught it, what do I do with it," part of fishing. Can't kill 'em, can't clean 'em. Which may be why I can't find anyone to go fishing with!

I was trying to think of something fun to do for today's post - something a little different that maybe I hadn't done before. Wow, that narrowed the field a bit. And then it came to me - how about jokes and riddles? I haven't done those on my blog before... at least I don't remember doing any! So, along with my marine life marvels, I'll be including some fun jokes and riddles that mention fish or fishing! You'll be able to find the answers by clicking and dragging your cursor across the line directly below the riddle! Enjoy - but be forewarned, some of these are real groaners :)

Two fellows are out fishing on the lake. A hearse and funeral procession passed the boat on a nearby road. One of the fellows stands up and holds his fishing hat over his heart as the hearse passes. His buddy comments, "Gee Harry, that was really nice and respectful." Harry replies, "It's the least I can do. After all, we were married for 40 years."

A blonde wanted to go ice fishing, so after getting all of the right tools, she headed toward the nearest frozen lake. After getting comfy on her stool she started to cut a circular hole in the ice. Then from the heavens a voice boomed, ''THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.'' Startled, the blonde moved further down the ice, poured a thermos of hot chocolate and started to cut yet another hole in the ice. The voice boomed, ''THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.'' This time quite scared, the blonde moved to the far end of the ice. Then she started another hole and once again the voice said, ''THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE.'' The very scared blonde raised her head and said, ''Is that you, Lord?'' The voice answered, ''NO. IT IS THE MANAGER OF THE ICE RINK.'

One day while driving home from his fishing trip in the pouring rain, a man got a flat tire outside a monastery.

A monk came out and invited him inside to have dinner and spend the night. The motorist accepted. That night he had a wonderful dinner of fish and chips.

He decided to compliment the chef. Entering the kitchen, he asked the cook, "Are you the fish friar?"

"No," the man replied, "I'm the chip monk."

Okay stop groaning, I warned you that some of the jokes were bad! I hope you enjoyed them anyway :) Just like I hope you enjoyed all of these great fish themed beauties. You should have seen the ones that got away though! Actually there's some truth in that statement - a couple of pieces that had been nominated were sold in the interim, so they really did get away!
