Delightful Discoveries - She Wore a Raspberry Beret... 08.27.10

I'm going to make some of you feel really old... Raspberry Beret, Prince's first song to be released in the US, was released 25 years ago in May of 1985. Where were you when you listened to that song? How many of you weren't even born yet? Wait, don't answer that, cuz then I'll feel REALLY old...LOL. Actually, when that song was released, I was 26 years old, had two young boys, and started the job that would begin a 20+ year career in the medical insurance industry. In some ways, it seems like forever ago, and in other ways, it seems like yesterday! Now, my youngest (who wasn't even born back then) is a year away from being twenty five and has two children of her own! Funny how a simple song can spark memories of a lifetime.

In case it's not obvious, my blog's color theme today is raspberry! Julia, of Lindentreephotograph, was gracious enough to suggest this mouthwatering raspberry photo note card to set the tone (and if you love raspberries like I do, to drool a bit) of this fun color theme! I'm going to go with a little more pinkish purple version of the color than these berries portray, but I know I've got raspberry on the brain now!

I think I'd be remiss in titling this post what I did without featuring at least one raspberry beret and mentioning a second hand store (aka a vintage shop!), so here they are!

Raspberry is just such a fun, rich, luscious color - just like the fruit it's named after! I'd love to know what memories Raspberry Beret might have evoked for you - so leave me a comment and let me know! And let all of these great Etsy artisans know what you think of their work while you're at it!

I'll be back tomorrow with a look at some "bring-your-shades-bright" electric indigo! As always, if you have something that's this vivid shade of purple in your shop, or you have a favorite bright purple item, send it on over by clicking here to e-mail me the link to the page of the shop where I can view the item! You can also view my calendar of future features by clicking on the "Be Featured" link in the right sidebar :)

Before I end this, I wanted to wish a happy 31st birthday to my oldest son, Mike! 31 years ago this evening, he made his debut just in time for the 1st inning of Monday night baseball, and changed my world forever in such a wonderful way! Hope it's a great day, Mike, and that this coming year finds you enjoying more successes, happiness, and love than you could have ever imagined! Love ya!

Take care everyone!
