Let's take them one by one. Up until the 1900's most babies were dressed in white and there was no trend to dress them in one color or the other; however, by the 1920's pink had been somewhat established by merchandisers as the best color for boys clothing. That's right - boys clothing. Blue was actually marketed as the most appropriate color for girls! The reasoning behind this is that supposedly, pink was associated with the masculine, fiery red, while blue was associated with the gowns that Our Lady, Jesus' mother, was often described as wearing - making it a feminine color. This trend didn't change until the 1940's, when the colors were reversed and pink became fashionable for little girls and blue for little boys!
If your favorite color is pink... "This color embodies the gentler qualities of Red, symbolizing love and affection without passion. Women who prefer Pink tend to be maternal. Pink desires protection, special treatment and a sheltered life. Pink people require affection and like to feel loved and secure, perhaps wanting to appear delicate and fragile. Pink people tend to be charming and gentle, if a trifle indefinite." (Source: Care2 Your Favorite Color: What it Says About You)
And what about those guys who wear pink? Before you head the other way, "Most people associate pink with babies, little girls, and feminine energies. But more than feeling feminine, wearing pink conveys compassion and an open heart. When people are wearing pink, whether they are male or female, they appear approachable and capable of loving others. If you want to feel heart-connected reach for that pastel pink sweater from your closet to wear. And if pastel colors don't suit you try on something in bright fuchsia. You'll feel pretty in pink." Very pretty Treasury. I just love each and every one of them. Very nice choices.
Pink makes me think of delicate roses. It immediately brings to mind that lovely, soft floral scent. Now I'm really wishing I had some roses growing in my garden this year!
Pink, all shades, is definitely my favorite color. I love all things "girly". Your choices are spot on.
Thank you Karen for adding my clutch to this beautiful collection!

I love pink, when my mom let me decorate my bedroom (think mid 60's) I chose hot pink mixed with more pink for everything. My sister wanted blue, oh well, and now my daughter hates pink!
Thank you so much for including my pink pearl earrings in your collection, I enjoyed reading about pink.

I tend to think of peach blossoms, which I could smell in the springtime from my bedroom window.
Beautiful blog post! Thanks for including my baby girl card!
Karen, thank you for including the baby shoes in this pretty treasury. I do love pink and since I used to be a teacher before I had the toddlers, I would have to agree about being maternal:)
( found it interesting about boys wearing the color pink).
Soft, Feminine, Delicate, Whispers and Gentle all things I'm not. But I love to fantasize, Thanks for giving me the opportunity to do so.
Oh wow. Interesting read about pink & lovely photos.
When my son was 4 yrs old he wanted hot pink mittens. Well you can imagine what a stir that created, especially amongst the in-laws.
He got his pink mittens. Today he is a 28 yr. old working artist who just got engaged to be married to his Colleen.
All's well that ends well !
I love all these pinks! Thanks for including my Hammered Circle Necklace!
I love reading all your comments about pink! I personally like the color for clothing, and I remember it being a very popular color for men during the 70's (and very becoming for a lot of guys too!), but as a decor color, meh... I think that's because my mother's kitchen when I was little was always pink and a hassle to keep clean! My daughter, on the other hand, has always loved pink!
Keep the comments coming!
Such beautiful and feminine picks!
I'm delighted to have my ring included among all these lovely pink items. My son made me very proud when he chose a pink shirt for his fifth grade school picture. He said "it's just a color, not just for girls or for boys."
Thank you so much for including my earrings! I think pink is sweet! Feminine & sweet! Love the features :)
So many lovely Pink items! Thank you much for including my earrings :)

How strange that as I was looking through the picks and idly thinking about what pink means to people, the word "safety" came to my mind. I think because it's such a soft, comforting color ... it makes you feel secure. Anyway, great picks as always!
