In honor of Tie One On Day, I'm taking a quick break from my party-going accessories to feature some fun (and very functional) holiday aprons. While many people think of aprons as a symbol of servitude in times gone by, worn by maids and waitresses and others of somewhat less than the upper crust of society, the fact is - at least in my humble opinion - that aprons are a wonderful and fun way to simply keep your clothes clean in a way that allows you to express your individuality on any given occasion!
There is a trend toward the revitalization of aprons right now and having searched through the hundreds of choices available on Etsy, I can tell you there is a huge variety from the retro look 40's and 50's classic pinafore type apron to humorous barbecue aprons for the grillmaster in your life!
Today, I've selected some holiday themed aprons that cover a range of styles, but each are sure to serve a dual purpose - to protect your holiday apparel from the ravages of kitchen spatters, out of control blenders, and other appliances gone wild -as well as to give you just one more way to show off your own unique personality! So, find your favorite, and tie one on!
For the hostess who's really into the spirit of Christmas and fancies herself the next Mrs Claus in training, how about this adorable Santa Apron from citygirlaprons? Definitely Christmas-y, it's fun and flirty - and no one can accuse you of not being in the holiday spirit if you're wearing it!
Prefer something a little more traditional but still want that festive look? I really like this Elegant Santas Christmas Apron by sewgraceful. It's got that perfect blend of old world primitive in a simple design that would would add a touch of Christmas cheer to any hostess attire.
Maybe you prefer the elegant little half apron look - a la June Cleaver... this might be the perfect choice for you then! From niriah, this Red Christmas Apron Set includes both an adult and matching children's apron in a beautiful holiday print with a festive green and red plaid sash. Ideal for those mother/child cookie baking sessions too!
Be sure to tie one on this year (the apron that is!) and if you know someone else who loves to cook, remember that aprons make wonderful gifts for anyone from Grandpa or Dad who's manning the grill, to Grandma or Mom or even Sis who always seems to be in the kitchen whipping up amazing goodies, and definitely your favorite craftsperson (hint, hint) who could use a great apron or coverall in their workshop or studio!
Happy Wednesday and Happy Shopping!
