Spot of Tea

When the world is all at odds
And the mind is all at sea
Then cease the useless tedium
And brew a cup of tea.

There is magic in its' fragrance,
There is solace in its' taste;
And the laden moments vanish
Somehow into space.

And the world becomes a lovely thing!
There's beauty as you'll see;
All because you briefly stopped
To brew a cup of tea.
~William Gladstone

With the weather cooling a bit here (we're pretty much in the 80's for our highs and down in the 50s -60s for our lows - eat your heart out!), it's time to start enjoying an evening cup of tea with honey. The honey is great for this time of year since it has natural antibiotic properties as well - and soothing for all of the symptoms that the drier air brings in winter.

I thought that for today's shopping trip I'd look at a few teapots. We have a couple of teapots for company occasions, and we also have an electric kettle for that quick single cup of tea, but I've known several people that have quite the collections of teapots as a hobby - so I thought it would be fun to seek out some unusual teapots on Etsy. I hope you like the ones I've selected - I think they are definitely different!

Definitely not your run of the mill teapot, I think this Spiked Tea pot from larryspearspottery is an amazing example of functional art. I love the maple handle - and yes - that IS barbed wire, but what really impressed me was the beautiful ceramic work of the pot itself. Gorgeous, don't you think?

This teapot wins my vote in the whimsical category. Remember the tea party scene in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland? This Cheshire Cat Teapot available at natalyasots on Etsy will bring the tea party into your own home. The detail is simply lovely, and while this would make a beautiful collectible, it is also a functional teapot!

For my final selection, I picked this one - named simply "Teapot". Something about it just makes me feel warm and cozy - kinda like I do when I'm sipping my favorite chamomile tea! I really like its simple shape, and love the textures and colors - which are what make it really unique. It's available from bellajoy.

I'm going to go make myself some tea now, I think... before I get back to building stock of holiday items for a craft fair this week. Busy, busy, busy... Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend - Happy Sunday and happy shopping!
