Welcome to my 6 on Saturday, where I have the pleasure of featuring new, undiscovered and underdiscovered shops on Etsy that haven't yet met the criteria for syndication, a qualifier that will give them much needed visibility on Google shopping.
I love taking this opportunity to share some of these great shops with you, and hopefully give them a bit of a boost on their entrepreneurial journey!
Looking through my list of qualifying shops, I realized that there was an opportunity to focus on a bit of a theme for today's 6 on Saturday, November 12, 2011.
If you couldn't figure it out from the title of this post, we'll be looking at some lovely shops whose target group is the soon-to-be-newlywed crowd...although many of their items are versatile enough to find them in use on any number of special occasions or for many special events. Enjoy - and be sure to show them some love!!!
TheVelvetTeacup joins us from the land down under - more specifically, Queensland, Australia. Coralie Milne, the shop owner and maker of magic when it comes to bridal hair accessories, admits an almost life long love affair with flowers, having loved to gather wildflowers from the fields around her childhood home and securing them into tiny bouquets with bits of ribbons and lace from her mother's sewing basket. Coralie's skills have matured as she has, enabling her to create an enchanting line of bridal veils, fascinators, and other hair accessories that would add a special touch of luxury to any coiffure. This shop opened in August of this year, and has enjoyed a couple of sales, but with it coming up on the summer wedding season in the Southern Hemisphere, and Northern brides busily planning for their own summer weddings just a few months away, now is the perfect time to start making decsions and placing orders!
Savannah, Ga is home to a lovely little shop, PearlsPlusLLC, and shopowner Chaya Udinsky. Directing her talents towards the creation of enchanting special occasion jewelry, Chaya has developed a design line featuring pearls, gemstones, crystals, and fine metals that are suitable for any member of the wedding party, or anyone who prefers luxurious jewelry, no matter what the occasion.
Diane Quach Comito, of AngelWeddings, has also been around flowers most of her life, since the family business has been floral design for over 30 years. Specializing in silk bridal bouquets, Diane has a great variety of styles and configurations from simple nosegays to more elaborate bridal cascades, and is more than happy to work with you to design something that will complement the bridal party's color palette. I was very impressed by what I viewed in Diane's shop, and I think you will be too! She's had 5 sales as of this writing, and I can see many more in her future. Whatever occasion you might prefer fine silk floral arrangements for, I think you'd be happy working with Diane :)
Of course, the bride is supposed to steal the show at a wedding, and her choice of apparel definitely allows her this honor! One of the current trends in the bridal market is towards blending old and new - and this trend is represented delightfully at winifredbean. Any bride will look chic, unique, and beautiful in these updated versions of classic styles that are elegant and appealing in their simplicity. An added benefit? Designer Angela Broyles offers you the option to mix and match tops and bottoms to create a gown that's perfect and perfectly proportionate for you.
For those of you who want to step up the appearance of a simple strapless gown, there are a variety of options - the most popular of which is adding a beautifully detailed shrug, elegant veil, or designer cuffs like those found at bridalplastilina. What a wonderful alternative - I love that you can explore a variety of looks for different times of your special day with these great accessories, as well as ensure your comfort in that too warm or too cool reception hall or restaurant.
I was having such a hard time deciding on the last shop to feature here today. Do I do an invitation shop? A one stop shop with a little bit of everything? Maybe the shop where the owner has the same last name as a childhood friend? And then I realized that I needed to feature the shop with the items I'd love to be shopping for if I were doing the bridal party thing again... so, yep, you guessed it... clutches! Okay, so maybe FuchstandBelle offers more than just clutches (they have some great ringbearer pillows and other accessories too), but you know me and clutches. It was love at first site - so if you're not seeing their clutches when you happen upon this post, be sure to head on over to the shop, because I think they're awesome!
Whether you're simply shopping for some special occasion wear, or if you're a bride-to-be, mother of the bride (or groom), or even helping someone with their wedding plans, please check out the amazing offerings you'll find in the handmade community. The possibilities are truly endless.
As always, if you're just starting out or know of a shop that is and would enjoy
a feature, introduce me to the shop and you may find it featured in one
of my future 6 on Saturday features. Use the "Contact Me" option in
the menu bar at the top of the page and send me the links!
Best of luck to these un- and underdiscovered shops - and happy shopping to you all!!

WOW! These are some incredibly AMAZING finds! I'm pretty sure that I have to get that red bridal bouquet, and I'm married already!
I love etsy! I never would have thought of using it for a wedding. What a great idea, I will be keeping this in my back pocket. Just need the boy to give me a ring! ;-) Thank you for sharing your six on saturday!
Oooo...I have a friend getting married! I'll show her this post!
The pearl designs are beautiful and so unique! If I had known about Etsy when I got married, I definitely would have used it for at least a few things.
