About me

Hiya! My name is Karen and I'm the owner of MysticWynd! Thanks for stopping by... pull up a chair, grab something refreshing to drink, and enjoy!

I guess it would be safe to say that my life has forever been about learning and evolving - I believe life is about balance and respect and while it may sound corny, "being one with the universe!"

I grew up on the south side of Chicago, IL in an average middle class neighborhood with average middle class friends and neighbors. My lifestyle was simple and I learned early on to appreciate the efforts of those who put a little bit of their heart and soul into their work - whether it was arranging flowers for the church altar, baking delicious apple pies, or simply taking care of the lawn of an elderly neighbor. I also learned just about every craft in the book and can really appreciate the care and love that goes into handmade.

I've come a long way from my humble beginnings in that little neighborhood and life has thrown me its share of curve balls. I've been married and divorced, remarried and widowed, and am happily married to a good guy who's a senior network engineer. Yes, that means he's a computer geek, but he loves his computers, and I'm good with that! We've been married for 6 years and between us have 6 children and 8 grandchildren. We live in Scottsdale, AZ where the sun is almost always shining and at worst, you never have to shovel "partly cloudy"!

I'd spent most of my adult life working in the health insurance field in a technical position and "retired" about three years ago because of health reasons and because I was just kind of tired of the corporate paradigm shift. The general sense of "getting things done" instead of getting them done right wasn't something I could live with. Not one to be kept down, I decided to start exploring working for myself and since I love arts and crafts of all kinds, I've pursued those interests. MysticWynd is my baby - I'm currently selling handmade jewelry designs on Etsy and hoping to launch my own expanded webstore sometime during 2012!

Just like me, this blog continues to evolve... I'm always looking for new ways to share my experiences in both the Etsy community and the rest of the world with my readers, as well as doing a ton of promoting. I hope you enjoy my efforts!

I thought you might be curious about where I spend most of my waking hours, so here's a few photos of "my side" of our office and where my creativity comes alive - either online, or in my creations! It's my little piece of heaven :)

Ohh, finally I get to see Picture of you. Love your space. I have crap scattered everywhere. I need the type of tubs, shelves, rollaways, etc. That you have. I am so not taking a picture of mine right now :)

I should have taken a "before" picture so you would have felt more at ease about your own work area. I imagine my kids looking at this picture and going "yeah, like THAT'S gonna last..." as they snicker or laugh hysterically.

I am so jealous! I certainly have the room to be organized - it's the energy and the time (kind of the same for me) to do this. Fortunately, my husband is a very patient man and lets me scatter my stuff throughout the house. Looking at your neat space makes me feel soooo inadequate. :(

I just better keep the pictures of your neat space away from my husbands sight! :)

I am SO jealous of that organized office/craft area. Mine looks like a war zone. About the only thing my area has going for it is that the family stays away because they all know there's a very good chance they'll step on a bead, pin or needle if they get too close.
