Art as a Release - A BESTeam Feature

Maureen Kirchdoerfer calls Fort Worth, Texas home, and this Ninja by day (she's a martial arts instructor) has found a creative outlet to help her cope with the stresses of life and the too-soon death of her father, through her shop, Release Me Creations (zen25), on Etsy.

Like many of us artsy types, Maureen finds crafting to be a way of channeling energy in a positive, creative way, and what better way to *escape* than through letting one's imagination dream up jewelry designs with "a little bit of glamour, a little bit of funk, a tiny bit of cuteness, with a smattering of punk!"

Classifying the jewelry style at Release Me Creations would leave someone caught between goth, neo-Victorian, punk, gothic, a pinch of art nouveau, and just a touch of steampunk... you know, that special style that transports the imagination back in time, only to bring it full circle with elements of modern and contemporary styles beautifully blended in.

The current trend for all things military has a touch of 1940s retro styling in this fabulous Brass Airplane Necklace.  For me, it brought to mind the upcoming Captain America movie release, imagining a plane, propellers spinning (and these really do!) as it finds its way through a storm over Nazi Germany carrying its precious cargo - Steve Rogers... aka Captain America to save the day. I Every design tells a story, you know...

Unisex meets steampunk with a touch of goth in this amazing 9mm Bullet Chain Leather Cuff. I love the rich burgundy brown leather corset cuff - sized to be adjustable to fit men or women and embellished with a series of metal chains flanking a stunning quartz crystal embedded in a 9mm bullet casing. This would make a very stylish, yet slightly edgy addition to your club or party accessory collection or an equally classy piece for cosplay participants.

In the style of Hollywood Glam, these Blueberry Blue Agate and Lapis Lazuli Teardrops wear beautifully as part of your retro look or your earth goddess weekend casual look - and just about every couture in between! So chic!

You'll find a wide variety of themes at Release Me Creations, and not only will you find gorgeous jewelry and accessories there, but you may just own an original of a design that will be making it into next year's Academy Award swag bags, since Maureen recently was chosen as one of a select few designers to have their work included in those fab gift bags to the stars! How cool is that? (Congrats again, Maureen - what an amazing honor!)

In addition to her shop, Maureen has a growing following all across the web and I'd love it if, after visiting Release Me Creations (zen25), you take some time to check out the rest of her links - which you'll find below!
