Consider the Alternatives - A BESTeam Feature

Tell me about your favorite "happy place" - you know, that place that you go "in your mind" when you need to get away but you can't, or you simply need to focus while you're meditating or cleansing away the worries of the day. Where is it, what will you find there?

Is it deep in the forest, along a path strewn with leaves and berries and the occasional wildflower peeking out amongst the younger brush and saplings? Perhaps you can close your eyes and imagine for a moment the rich earthy smell of the trees, the fragrance of juniper or cedarwood mixing with the scent of wild bergamot or lemon balm. You find yourself at once relaxed, yet revitalized, thinking more clearly - and that headache is slowly disappearing.

Or perhaps you envision yourself laying on a blanket in a field of wildflowers... spikes of lavender and hyssop creating undulating waves of color in the breeze, while the distinctive fragrances of clary sage and wild rose mingle with the sweet scent of valerian... and you find yourself relaxed, perhaps even mildly sleepy, as the stresses of the day slowly drift away.
Higher Self -
Meditation Oil Blend

Your reverie may even take you far away to the birthplace of meditation, the jungles and mountains of Asia, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of society, you find yourself in a small, somewhat barren room, on a mat in front of a small altar. The aromas are pungent and intoxicating here... rich patchouli perhaps, or frankincense...and is that myrrh? The pleasant scent of sandalwood wafts through the air, carrying with it a sense-ualness, enabling you to center your thoughts and focus on the energies of your spirit.

While it may not be possible to actually get away to one of these "happy places" in real life, you can create them easily enough through the use of aromatherapy... and today's featured shop, Ancient Oils, based out of Cincinnati, OH, is the perfect place to start your journey along the road to health and well being through the use of this popular alternative therapy.

For me it's always the sea. I could definitely do with soaking in a warm ocean right now, letting the waves lap gently, listen to the seagulls...put that in a pot and I'm your girl!

I love just sitting in my living room with the window opened. Sometimes in the early morning, because I live so close to the bay, I can actually hear a seal. Later in the morning, its the sweet sounds of birds chriping and an occasional woodpecker.
Sometimes those sounds really relax me, and I just live in and for that moment.

With my Kindle to read, a cup of coffee and sitting on the patio, early in the morning, with the birds chirping and not a soul out yet....ahh, peace and quiet before the day gets hectic.
