Anne and her husband of 48 years Randy (who she has known since childhood!) split their time evenly between their home in Castle Rock, Colorado and Gulf Shores, Alabama, spending 6 months in each. Being avid golfers (both Anne and her husband have managed a hole in one at least once!) both of their homes are on golf courses, where they spend part of their free time. In addition to golf, Anne is "Mom" to two daughters and a son, and a grandmother of six!

Her talent and passion for crocheting appeared around the same time as her retirement from a teaching career - and I for one, am glad she discovered just how talented she is when it comes to designing her beautiful crocheted accessories. In addition to the amazing array of colors and styles you'll already find at hatsbyanne1942, Anne welcomes requests for custom colors on any style in her repertoire.

Anne shared these answers to my "interview" questions...

1. When did you decide you wanted to sell your beautiful crocheted hats and scarves? What or who inspired you to make that step? After a 31-year teaching career, I discovered quite by accident that I had been given a talent for making hats and scarves simply by taking the yarn in hand and creating a beautiful hat or scarf. I used no patterns or directions. As the weeks passed, the collection grew and grew, and it was then that I decided the time had come to sell my creations. Friends who visited my hat room in my home soon shared the same idea...start selling. They bought and I sold.

2. What teacher in school was your favorite? What made him/her such a great teacher? My first grade teacher, Mrs. Moates, was my favorite teacher and she was the reason for my becoming a teacher.

3. You've been asked to put an item of your choice in a time capsule, to be opened in 100 years. What do you put in it and why? I would put one of my hats in a time capsule just to remind people that we all have hidden talents, we just have to look for them. Of course, I would want an attached note to read, "An Artist with Yarn". She never could read the directions, so she just created!

4. Every artist has their frustrations - either perfecting a technique or working out the logistics of a design or some other creativity challenge - have you ever had something that it seemed like you would never figure out, but finally did? What was it? My creations have come so easily, I can honestly say there has not yet been one frustrating moment. It is so natural.

5. Who would you want to play you if they wrote a movie about your life? My most favorite actress has always been Elizabeth Taylor. As we age together, she still could play the part.

6. If you could be a crayon, what color would you be? Green, my favorite color!
